...I think it's the nature of the lies that most take umbrage with. It's why we have phrases like "lies of omission" and "from a certain point of view"... Lies can help bolster somebody, or relieve pain, but they can also make things go in the other direction.

And...having come from a society that does nothing but lies from itself, it really, really sucks. One always has to keep track of their lies, and be ready to find the truth of others lies, and walking on that knife's edge may be thrilling, but it's just...tiring after a while, and takes away joy just as much as knowing all the secret truths.
