I can see about getting you a copy of one of my field guides if you're curious. I've been expanding on the entries about the frickens- my great-grandmother's name for them- into their own separate guide.
It also has D20 system RPG stats for each species so that anyone else who finds it thinks it's some kind of homebrew bestiary. [ His sister Antimony's idea. Sometimes hiding things in plain sight is just a little too easy.
As for the question, he might be rambling a bit to stall, or at least gather his thoughts. ]
I've been lucky so far. But I've seen people hunted and killed for what they are, kids stolen from their homes because sapient cryptids make ideal victims for human criminals, things like that. I do what I can to stop it, but that just means I end up seeing more of it.
