Completely. And if it's not managing their PR then they're really only in it for their own pet projects. You try getting the Bat to give a shit about any thing that's not about chaos clowns or dead parents.

I see your point. If they're not in it for themselves, then they're typically in it because they've a chip on their shoulder and decided donning a costume and taking to the streets was a better option than therapy.

Maybe I should be grateful that the "heroes" and "villains" mostly keep each other busy.

"Romanticism" has nothing to do with it. It's a simple fact.

Romanticism has everything to do with it. Everyone's good old days are just an old photograph— too narrow a frame and too saturated with nostalgia to capture anything like the truth of a whole era.
