unpopular opinions

Do you think people are too sensitive? Or that Superman isn't so super? Think cats aren't cute? The Beatles are overrated? Love pineapple on pizza? Maybe you just don't like chips rly. Even the best of us have some controversial opinions. Let people know what a monster you are.

top level

with your characters’ unpopular and/or controversial opinion. Or share few of them at once. In person or via text. Prepare for disagreement.

comment

to tell them why they're wrong, validate a kindred spirit, or just troll them for caring about such a silly-ass thing in the first place.

Interesting. Care to elaborate?

Have you met any so-called "heroes." They're all about as maladjusted as the lunatics they chase.
suicideprototype: oh oh oh oh oh oh (「逃避」以外考えられん)

[personal profile] suicideprototype 2020-10-03 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
A couple, here and there. Sounds like you've met a lot more, though.

Well, anyone who'd call themselves a "hero" typically probably needs to get over themselves. Messiah complex, narcissism, hero syndrome...

So I can't say I'm surprised.

You definitely sound like you've met some.

They're all one bad break-up from world domination if you ask me. But I'm not exactly known for being gregarious. Anymore.

That made me so sour about the cape wearing crowd?
Not really, I guess. When your life brushes up against theirs enough... you start seeing just how they pick their battles.

And how is it that they pick their battles? Let me guess - more interested in fame and recognition than in "doing the right thing"?
horticulturalist: (apathetic)

[personal profile] horticulturalist 2020-10-03 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Completely. And if it's not managing their PR then they're really only in it for their own pet projects. You try getting the Bat to give a shit about any thing that's not about chaos clowns or dead parents.

[personal profile] suicideprototype 2020-10-03 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I see your point. If they're not in it for themselves, then they're typically in it because they've a chip on their shoulder and decided donning a costume and taking to the streets was a better option than therapy.

Maybe I should be grateful that the "heroes" and "villains" mostly keep each other busy.

Until they start dragging others into their miserable self-determined fate. Side-kicks and predecessors and turning unwitting people into their stupid experimental goon-squad all in the name of protecting people.

[Sigh.]

"Romanticism" has nothing to do with it. It's a simple fact.

But are you suggesting the "good old days" aren't good for everyone?

[personal profile] horticulturalist 2020-10-04 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Romanticism has everything to do with it. Everyone's good old days are just an old photograph— too narrow a frame and too saturated with nostalgia to capture anything like the truth of a whole era.
