unpopular opinions

Do you think people are too sensitive? Or that Superman isn't so super? Think cats aren't cute? The Beatles are overrated? Love pineapple on pizza? Maybe you just don't like chips rly. Even the best of us have some controversial opinions. Let people know what a monster you are.

top level

with your characters’ unpopular and/or controversial opinion. Or share few of them at once. In person or via text. Prepare for disagreement.

comment

to tell them why they're wrong, validate a kindred spirit, or just troll them for caring about such a silly-ass thing in the first place.

You know what I mean. How do I know if I agree or disagree with your statement if I don’t know how you’re choosing to measure importance?

You already know if you agree with me or not based on whether you like the bad guy or good guy more.

Well, no...

If you measure importance by, like, significant change that creates positive outcomes later in history, then I’d probably agree with you.

If you measure importance by who deserves more attention and resources, then I probably wouldn’t.

And then there’s individual good guys or individual bad guys. And that whole perspective thing.

If you’ve taught me one thing, little mask guy, it’s that it’s complicated!

Of course it's complicated. So make it simple and decide for yourself.

If I decide for you, then why bother asking you a question in the first place?

Even if I tried to make it simple and just answer, you’d only make it complicated again. You’re good at that.

It's fun watching you struggle. There's no right answer after all.

Exactly. Which means the best we can do is judge both good guys and bad guys on their individual merits.
whataterriblefate: (This ceases to be entertaining.)

[personal profile] whataterriblefate 2020-11-14 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
But humans never do. They only judge them based on what they are to themselves. To one, a bad guy is a good guy, and the other way around.

We only have our own perception to base decisions on, though. No matter how objective we try to be, that objectivity is STILL based on our perception of it.

And grouping more people together doesn’t make it more objective. It only makes those people hunker down on their own perceptions even harder.

[personal profile] whataterriblefate 2020-11-14 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Then there's no such thing as a "good guy" or a "bad guy" in the first place.

There is if we compare them to our own perceptions of good and bad.

And even then, are we talking about character or actions? I personally think people may do bad things, but they are still inherently good people.

[personal profile] whataterriblefate 2020-11-14 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha ha ha. You think people are good? You deluded fool.

[personal profile] itmeanstruth 2020-11-14 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I do think people are good.

They only act that way, because they know they're rotten inside. It's very amusing.
