Do you think people are too sensitive? Or that Superman isn't so super? Think cats aren't cute? The Beatles are overrated? Love pineapple on pizza? Maybe you just don't like chips rly. Even the best of us have some controversial opinions. Let people know what a monster you are.

with your characters’ unpopular and/or controversial opinion. Or share few of them at once. In person or via text. Prepare for disagreement.

to tell them why they're wrong, validate a kindred spirit, or just troll them for caring about such a silly-ass thing in the first place.

So if I learn Latin, then I'll know thirteen other languages?

[He has not once wondered this about Kageyama.]
That's not what I said.
It will aid you in learning other languages should you choose to study them.
And it will help you with English, which you are already learning.

What is the importance of learning other languages?
[ Meaning: How will this help me on my path to becoming a strong volleyball player? ]

[Part of being a teacher is knowing what motivates a student, and even though Whelk hates his job and all of his students (including Mr. Kageyama here), he's good at what he does. Also, Tobio literally never shuts up about volleyball ever, and it is no mystery to absolutely anyone that he is on the team - setter, we know.]
Would it not benefit you to be able to communicate if you were to begin playing internationally?
[Also, and now he begins speaking very slowly:]
And you're failing English.

And worst of all... Tobio is failing English. ]
So you're saying if I learn Latin, I will have an easier time learning English?
no subject
You are correct.
[He is so tired.]
no subject
Fine, I'll learn some Latin.
[ He has NO IDEA what he's in for. ]

Were you aware of that, Mr. Kageyama?
[He's heard about this kid from Jonah Milo, the English teacher, hence this conversation, but actually speaking with him in a more personal sense, he is beginning to get the feeling that this will be a very long semester.]
no subject
I am... [ now. Yes. He's aware now and that's what matters. ]

It's Latin 1. That's the beginner's course. You'll be starting from scratch just like everyone else, and there are accommodations in place for English-Second-Language students.
If you study and put the work in, you'll be fine.
[He should get paid a dollar for every reassuring word he has to force out of his mouth at an aimless student.]

And since Tobio can't afford to fail English this semester, he will... really, really try his very best...
Just.
Yeah. ]
Okay. Thank you for answering my questions, Mr. Whelk.

[This is the voice of a man whose spirit has thoroughly and completely died.]
You're excused then. I'll see you on Monday.
