36 questions to fall in love
Mutual vulnerability fosters closeness. Allowing yourself to be open and honest with another person can be hard. Thankfully these 36 questions and convo starters are designed to make getting to know someone really really well a lot easier. So what do you need to know about someone to love them?
Start with these 36 things:
- Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
- Would you like to be famous? In what way?
- Before making a telephone call, do you ever rehearse what you are going to say? Why?
- What would constitute a “perfect” day for you?
- When did you last sing to yourself? To someone else?
- If you were able to live to the age of 90 and retain either the mind or body of a 30-year-old for the last 60 years of your life, which would you want?
- Do you have a secret hunch about how you will die?
- Name three things you and your partner appear to have in common.
- For what in your life do you feel most grateful?
- If you could change anything about the way you were raised, what would it be?
- Take four minutes and tell your partner your life story in as much detail as possible.
- If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?
- If a crystal ball could tell you the truth about yourself, your life, the future or anything else, what would you want to know?
- Is there something that you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time? Why haven’t you done it?
- What is the greatest accomplishment of your life?
- What do you value most in a friendship?
- What is your most treasured memory?
- What is your most terrible memory?
- If you knew that in one year you would die suddenly, would you change anything about the way you are now living? Why?
- What does friendship mean to you?
- What roles do love and affection play in your life?
- Alternate sharing something you consider a positive characteristic of your partner. Share a total of five items.
- How close and warm is your family? Do you feel your childhood was happier than most other people’s?
- How do you feel about your relationship with your mother?
- Make three true “we” statements each. For instance, “We are both in this room feeling …”
- Complete this sentence: “I wish I had someone with whom I could share …”
- If you were going to become a close friend with your partner, please share what would be important for him or her to know.
- Tell your partner what you like about them; be very honest this time, saying things that you might not say to someone you’ve just met.
- Share with your partner an embarrassing moment in your life.
- When did you last cry in front of another person? By yourself?
- Tell your partner something that you like about them already.
- What, if anything, is too serious to be joked about?
- If you were to die this evening with no opportunity to communicate with anyone, what would you most regret not having told someone? Why haven’t you told them yet?
- Your house, containing everything you own, catches fire. After saving your loved ones and pets, you have time to safely make a final dash to save any one item. What would it be? Why?
- Of all the people in your family, whose death would you find most disturbing? Why?
- Share a personal problem and ask your partner’s advice on how he or she might handle it. Also, ask your partner to reflect back to you how you seem to be feeling about the problem you have chosen.

A construct of deception you say? That's an interesting point of view. Especially from someone your age. What amount of deception would you say you're comfortable with? Maybe even, expecting.
no subject
I've been taught to overestimate when it comes down to it. And you? What amount of deception you tend to expect from others?
no subject
Hm. That's wise. I suppose that is a deception, isn't it? I've never thought of it quite like that, but in that case... I'm going to come off like quite a pessimist answering that. I'd say I take most people for liars and the one's who think they aren't are just lying to themselves.
no subject
I don't think it's pessimistic at all. If anything, it feels like the most realistic perception to have when it comes to us. There's a reason why we give so much weight to things like first impressions and why so much of our self-image is based on how we can appear to others. Wouldn't you agree?
no subject
Are you older than you look, if you don't mind my asking? You seem... unusually astute for a woman of your age. Or, at least, what I might guess your age to be.
no subject
I can't take credit. It's... because I've had an amazing mentor in the form of my grandmother all of my life. Without her, I wouldn't be as impressive. Although, out of curiosity, how old do I look?
no subject
I swear I get worse at this the older I get. I suppose I might have put you about twenty. Give or take a couple of years, no?
no subject
You're better at it than I am! Twenty, give or take a few years, is pretty accurate. Meanwhile, my answer for you would be... ageless. And I don't mean that as a lie or flattery.
no subject
Ageless might be... more true than either of us know. I've been around a long time. More than a hundred years now. No signs of stopping either. So I suppose I'm just along for the ride.
no subject
Did you ever struggle with that? Have your thoughts on your immortality ever changed?

What is it that you do, anyway? Other than... [ He just kind of. Gestures. ] Cosplay?

[She raises an eyebrow at that.] I don't play at anything, dear.
I've been a lot of things in my life. A solider. A politician. A foreign agent. A mistress. A few things I won't cop to as well. At least not without establishing attorney client privilege first.

I mean I'm really hoping you don't kill me now, but I'm guessing I'll have a heart attack when my body stops being able to keep up with itself. That or I'll be willed out of existence by some ubermagic, you know, the ushe.
no subject
Try not to give me a reason, dear.
[Wink.]
Is that typical of speedsters? Heart failure?
no subject
So can I ask you a question now or is this a one way thing?
no subject
Ask away.
Unless this is another question about being naked all the time. God I tire of those.

Uh...If you knew that in one year you would die suddenly, would you change anything about the way you are now living? Why?
no subject
Not philosophically speaking, no. There are some... loose ends I might look to tie up. But if I was going to change who I am as a person. Well, I think that would have had to happen by now.
