unpopular opinions

Do you think people are too sensitive? Or that Superman isn't so super? Think cats aren't cute? The Beatles are overrated? Love pineapple on pizza? Maybe you just don't like chips rly. Even the best of us have some controversial opinions. Let people know what a monster you are.

top level

with your characters’ unpopular and/or controversial opinion. Or share few of them at once. In person or via text. Prepare for disagreement.

comment

to tell them why they're wrong, validate a kindred spirit, or just troll them for caring about such a silly-ass thing in the first place.

Names make everything so much more confusing.

…closes it.

Shit, this guy’s actually right. ]

No argument?

…No. I concede.

Pity. We could pretend to argue to work out your issues if you want.

I’ll pass, thanks.

What in particular do you have against names?
corridors: (20)

[personal profile] corridors 2022-04-05 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
They aren’t real. So much labelling and categorising and you can’t even bother to make them unique. Too many people with the same name in this world.
affidavitted: (hmph)

[personal profile] affidavitted 2022-04-08 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
How would you suggest we refer to one another, then? For all that names can be a nuisance, they are rather necessary.

[personal profile] corridors 2022-04-09 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
A nice friendly description. Something meaningful.
meandmyself: (It's more complicated than that)

[personal profile] meandmyself 2022-04-03 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
If I'm in a room with you and Jesus, I need a way to clarify which one I'm insulting.

Couldn’t you point? With your fingers?
meandmyself: (Ha Ha Yes Okay Ha)

What if you're blind?

What if I were deaf?

[personal profile] meandmyself 2022-04-03 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Then I could point. Don't change the subject.
corridors: (150)

[personal profile] corridors 2022-04-03 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps we have the same name. Now what?
meandmyself: (Sorry what)

[personal profile] meandmyself 2022-04-03 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Then in that specific case, having names and not having names are equally annoying. 999 times in a thousand, the names will be different.
corridors: (20)

[personal profile] corridors 2022-04-04 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Doesn’t the one chance in a thousand make the entire thing pointless? It happened, it is happening somewhere every second of every day. I’m Michael, but I’m not Michael.
meandmyself: (No idea what you're talkin about)

[personal profile] meandmyself 2022-04-04 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
No, something that works 999 times out of 1000 isn't pointless. It's actually extremely useful and is only mildly inconvenient occasionally. That's still way better than just pointing at people, Michael.
corridors: (130)

[personal profile] corridors 2022-04-04 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I’m not Michael, as I just said. Someone else was Michael and here I stand, not wanting to be Michael. Thousands of Michaels, scattered around the world. You wouldn’t want to offend those poor people. What did they ever do to you?
meandmyself: (Default)

[personal profile] meandmyself 2022-04-04 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
You also said you were Michael, so I was talking to the part of you that said you were Michael.

More to the point, let's play by your rules. If names are helpful sometimes, then names are being helpful all across the world, every second. If the occasional instances where someone gets confused for someone else count, why don't they?
corridors: (10)

[personal profile] corridors 2022-04-05 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
What if I want to pronounce it Michelle now?

I never agreed names were helpful. That sounds entirely made up. Give me one example of a time a name actually was helpful and not in a hypothetical way.
meandmyself: (No idea what you're talkin about)

[personal profile] meandmyself 2022-04-05 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
When I said "hey Emma, are you streaming later?" on a voice chat, only one person answered, and it was Emma. That was yesterday. Why did you think that would be hard?
corridors: (40)

[personal profile] corridors 2022-04-06 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, that must have been how it went. But if someone else had answered, there might have been an argument. Or if you meet a second Emma who you’d like to befriend, what then?
meandmyself: (Well I AM pretty cool)

[personal profile] meandmyself 2022-04-06 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
You just told me to make an argument without hypotheticals. Why don't you?
corridors: (20)

[personal profile] corridors 2022-04-07 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
[His giggling echoes in an eerie way that his voice wasn’t. Don’t question it, you heard nothing.]

You could have told me not to. Lay down all the arbitrary rules of your own that you want. Does poor Emma only have the one name?
