You can have sex?

[She didn't mean to sound as rude as she probably does, but this guy doesn't look very biologically sound. A bit like some golems she's seen.]

My apologies. I did not mean to be rude, you just seemed like a few beings I've met that do not... reproduce in such a manner.

[Granted not everyone does it for the purpose of reproduction.]

You and I will be pleased to know that you’re not entirely wrong. I can’t reproduce despite being fully capable of the act, thankfully. ]

I see, so it's more like you enjoy going through the motions like most of the thirsty humans I know?

[The grand majority of humanity from her experience would like to have sex without the consequences of parenthood. Being nearly the last of her kind, that's something she doesn't particularly have to worry about either.]

[ 'Thirsty' is not the word I’d use to practice my participation in the endeavor, no. ]

Not to be rude, but it would seem impractical for you to have a sex drive if your kind can't reproduce through sex.

[Evolution gives beings a sex drive for that exact purpose after all.]

It sounds to me like sex for you is more like enthusiastic cuddling with benefits.

[ Yeah well, it's one of the few practical benefits you can give my existence.

My creators were not the most practical bunch. ]

If there is a creator of my species, rather than just random chance and evolution, I'd say they weren't always the most practical either.

[She'd rather not go into too deep of detail about that, so she's going to simply drop it.]

Oh I'm not sure if I'd call myself an expert. Actually I'd go so far to say that sex is very different for me than it is for most individuals. I often use it as a trap to lure in and devour prey, more than an act of intimate affection like many would prefer. My kind is almost extinct, so reproduction isn't exactly the reason for it, and many of the wild spirits I was raised by almost encouraged this kind of reckless hunt.

[ I see.

Sounds like we both share a little bit of a touchy subject. ]

[ Well, said hunting pattern doesn't seem like a bad idea for someone with your shape. I'm grateful I don't have to go to those lengths in order to take someone's life. ]

If it was simply their life I was after, it wouldn't be so difficult. What I'm after is more akin to their soul. Their memories, their experiences, their very life essence, all of it is at its most vulnerable right after... well.

[She chuckles, a sort of dark, bitter, thing.]

I'm not always proud of what I do, and so I try to be selective with who I hunt.

[ Fairly spoken ... as unique as your case may be. Makes a freak of nature like me feel less alone in the closest thing to guilt I can feel when it comes to my, er ... victims. ]

You have some rather impressive weapons yourself I see. How often must you hunt to sustain a body like yours?

[ Thank you ... although I'm afraid I don't hunt to sustain myself, at least not in the way most traditionally do. ]

And you think the way I sustain myself is very traditional?

[Granted she still has to sustain herself in the traditional manner too, which gets into the impracticality of her species design.]

It’s strange to talk about it, stranger to feel interrogated in this subject.
