Humans do things to other humans, sometimes. It's always awful.

[She wants to stick with the part she can both believe and say out loud, but she has to ask.]

The technical term in my line of work is 'Abnormalities', but monsters with unusual powers. Some of them are harmless, but a lot of them will kill you without even meaning to. Which is more than can be said for humans, usually they do it on purpose.

[Humans kind of suck, actually.]

Hm. I see. You work, where again?

[Force of habit: She can't allow herself to admit out loud monsters actually exist, but she definitely believes they do. Along with terrible humans, of course.]

Do people die often? Of these supposed "Abnormalities" I mean? No snails with human faces, are there?

[She tries to sound lighthearted about the last part.]

Lobotomy Corporation. Just as much fun as it sounds.

Oh, yeah, employees die all the time. -I don't think we have any snails right now, but I wouldn't be surprised if we got one in.

Haven't heard of that one. It's not part of Massachusetts is it?

[Please don't let it be in Massachusetts. Not that she doesn't care, but everything can't be her problem. As usual she assumes there's a 50/50 chance this person is telling the truth or making up wild tales. Because that's how things usually turn out.]

You're sure your co-workers are nonhuman?

Nope. Pretty far away.

[The City is really isolated from anything that's not The City.]

Oh, no, my coworkers are human. We have Abnormalities in containment that we work with, those are where the employee deaths come from.
