Well you could get 'em back the same way. Tit for tat. But I think you should take it further. Escalation is so underrated.

That would work if I knew who started the rumor. I wasn't even aware of it until we started looking into human myth surrounding Asgard.

Alcohol. A lot of stories get twisted when people get drunk. All the most outlandish stories I've heard come from someone who either heard it while drunk or was told it by a drunk person.

I knew a man who once got super drunk and started saying Pac-Man is a metaphor for the Jewish soul in modern-day Europe. Alcohol is a helleva drug.
