[It's really hard to be on the receiving end of such earnest compliments, even though Asahi is similarly used to being on the same team as Hinata. He isn't quite ready for her hug when it comes, but it's not like he isn't going to catch her, given the way Hinata throws herself at him.

Asahi catches her with a little 'oof' and even shyly attempts to hug her back.]

A-ah.. thank you, Hinata-chan..

What a soft guy my senpai is! [She giggles as she says this, wiggling her arms around him and giving him a hard squeeze, although she doubted it would hurt him. There is a tiny flush on her face from the honorifics added to her name, the teen scratching at the back of her head sheepishly.] It sucks though when people assume stuff about you.

I feel you on that. Like me- [She jerks her thumb at herself, lips pursed into a cute pout.] People mistaking me as a grade-schooler just because of my height. It's not my fault I'm so short!

[azuhi]

[No, the squeeze definitely doesn't hurt, but it's unexpected and makes him tense up all the same. Asahi maintains his hug for a moment longer, but then puts Hinata back down on her feet.]

No, it's not. And it's strange that people make that mistake... you don't really look like a child.

[She's not that short, and certainly not that... flat. And her face, the way she dresses, everything else - very typical teenage girl, based on Asahi's interactions with his classmates.]

I'm glad you think so, senpai! I think Asahi-senpai is the only one who doesn't see me as a child.. [She clings to Asahi's arm, a tiny scowl forming on her face.]

Stupid Kayegama and Tsukishima always make fun of my height! [Her short stature was the most that those two teased her about whenever they could. They sometimes made fun of her lack of femininity but it was a given that it could be something she was sensitive about, so it was always toned down. She wasn't the curviest of girls and didn't have much in the chest department but whenever she hung out with female friends she did enjoy dressing up as cute as she could. It always seems to catch the team off guard, Kageyama especially whenever she showed off her girly side. It was amusing to see, if anything else.]

I've been mistaken for a boy too by the other teams we've played against.. [Her hairstyle since the beginning of her joining the team had been short and spiky. It was convenient for her at the time but now..] That's why I'm trying to grow my hair out. Does it suit me? [She pulls away and strikes a pose, twirling around for a moment to whip her ponytail. Her hair certainly had grown longer than the last time, enough that she could put it up into a little ponytail.]

[azuhi]

That isn't true! Daichi and Suga and the rest of the team, too-- we all know you're not a child, Hinata. I'm sure that's true for Kageyama and Tsukishima, too. [He pauses, then hesitantly adds.] I'm sure they know we wouldn't be able to win as many games without you.

[Asahi's a bit surprised when she pulls away only to strike a really adorable pose, and he immediately nods in response to her question.]

I think it looks really good. It's, uh, very cute.

[smallstrike]

Eh!? T-Thanks.. [She scratches the back of her head sheepishly at his words, ducking her head down shyly.] I-I can't take all the credit though! The rest of the team also did their part too.. [Hinata wasn't one to brag about her incredible ability to jump high. It was just an aspect that helped the team out, that's all.]

Really? [She perks up at his words, red forming on her face. If Hinata had a tail it would be wagging something fierce.] It doesn't look weird at all? I've had my hair short for so long. Not used to having it like this.

That makes me really happy.. [Ah this was so embarrassing! It was the first time she's ever been called cute by one of her senpai's, but it made her happy all the same.]

That's true. Whether we win or lose, we're doing it all together as a team. But you're an important part of our team, too.

[He knows Hinata wants his position, Ace, and that she struggles with her role as a decoy. If Asahi can cheer her up, he's happy to do so.

And then, when she shares her hair struggles, Asahi nods.]

I felt the same way when I was growing my hair out, but I think yours looks nice.
