unpopular opinions

Do you think people are too sensitive? Or that Superman isn't so super? Think cats aren't cute? The Beatles are overrated? Love pineapple on pizza? Maybe you just don't like chips rly. Even the best of us have some controversial opinions. Let people know what a monster you are.

top level

with your characters’ unpopular and/or controversial opinion. Or share few of them at once. In person or via text. Prepare for disagreement.

comment

to tell them why they're wrong, validate a kindred spirit, or just troll them for caring about such a silly-ass thing in the first place.

Meredith Idlewild - OC - OTA

1. Licorice is a pretty good flavor, be it in jelly beans, other candy or tea.

2. People who get huffy about someone walking with a cane being slow when walking in a crowd should be fair game to hit across the shins with said cane.

3. Pencil skirts are the literal devil, fuck them. Ditto high-heeled shoes.

4. The Carpenters' cover of Calling All Occupants of Interplanetary Craft is an absolute insult to the original version by Klaatu.

The black kind or the red kind?
henchgal: (side-eye)

[personal profile] henchgal 2020-11-12 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm talking about the black, specifically. No one finds red licorice offensive, it's as non-controversial as the classic rock music that plays in the grocery store while you're shopping.
boimboim: (Awkward)

[personal profile] boimboim 2020-11-12 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Where I'm from, people don't really do either anymore. It's kind of crazy what passed as candy in old-timey times.
henchgal: (holding it in)

[personal profile] henchgal 2020-11-12 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Old-timey? Wait, wait. Where...no, better question, when are you from?
boimboim: (Default)

[personal profile] boimboim 2020-11-13 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
2380— still Earth though, born and raised!
henchgal: (side-eye)

[personal profile] henchgal 2020-11-13 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I don't want to live that long if people don't have good terrible candy in that future.
unfriendly_fire: (Glam)

3!

[personal profile] unfriendly_fire 2020-11-13 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Clearly you have absolutely no sense for fashion.
henchgal: (glower)

[personal profile] henchgal 2020-11-13 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
I have chronic pain and bad ankles. No matter how much I'd like to be fashionable, it's not going to happen if I want to be able to walk. Like, I spent a couple years trying it, and fucked up one of my legs permanently in the process.
unfriendly_fire: (Lornepout(tm))

[personal profile] unfriendly_fire 2020-11-13 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I've always believed beauty is worth a little pain - but permanent injury? Maybe not. How bad is it? Maybe there can be work-arounds.
henchgal: (Default)

[personal profile] henchgal 2020-11-13 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean, give me a boot with a nice chunky heel, and I stand a chance of not wobbling like a baby giraffe at an ice skating rink.

The problem is that I have a genetic condition that causes defects in the collagen within my body. What this means is that my joints are hypermobile--I can pop my shoulder by trying to open a door that's too heavy, and my ankles have always wanted to roll a lot more than other people's.
unfriendly_fire: (Pleased)

[personal profile] unfriendly_fire 2020-11-13 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
And see, this is where the pencil skirt can help make up for a lack of heels, or at least something with a higher waist to help show off the legs.

But on the other hand, the less that others put care into their appearance means fewer people drawing attention away from me!
henchgal: (adoring)

[personal profile] henchgal 2020-11-13 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'm sure that you're more worthy of that attention than I am, anyway.

[There's the subtlest slight mocking edge to those words. Meredith prefers not to be noticed too much, if she's honest. She does her best work off on the sidelines, outside the spotlight. Allowing others to be big shiny egotistical attention grabbers is all to her benefit.]
unfriendly_fire: (Arrogant smile)

[personal profile] unfriendly_fire 2020-11-13 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[Lorne chooses to ignore any of the sarcasm behind those words and continues with his usual arrogant flair.]

Well, I won't argue that. But honestly, you wouldn't do so terribly with just a bit more effort. You have a nice enough face, just... a little something with the hair, at the very - VERY - least.

Licorice is pretty good? Okay. Convince me you're not a psychopath.

henchgal: (hm? hmmm?)

[personal profile] henchgal 2020-11-13 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
I don't owe it to you, to convince you of that. What's it matter to me, if you think I'm a psychopath? Especially over something like 'nice things to have in my mouth'.
yeahmagnets: (amused)

[personal profile] yeahmagnets 2020-11-13 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
You don't have to convince me of jack shit. I'm just observing that I'm pretty sure whoever invented licorice, like, lost their tastebuds in the war or something.

[He doesn't feel like being smacked today, so he's seriously resisting the urge to make a crass joke about nice things to have in her mouth.]

That's what she said.

[He never did have much self-control.]
henchgal: (not laughing at you)

[personal profile] henchgal 2020-11-13 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
[She'd honestly been expecting that comment or something of its ilk, and tries very hard not to laugh at it.

...and fails.]

Seriously? What are you, like thirteen?
yeahmagnets: (pensive)

[personal profile] yeahmagnets 2020-11-13 09:22 am (UTC)(link)
Do I look thirteen? ALSO, YOU LAUGHED. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black...

Oh, I never claimed to be perfectly mature--at least not around you, yet.

High heeled shoes?

Why wear high heeled shoes? Are you horse rider?

[It's the only reason she can think to wear that kind of shoe outside of being the princess of a fairy tale.]
henchgal: (Default)

[personal profile] henchgal 2020-11-13 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Not since I was a kid. But there's this idea that high heels make women's legs look more shapely, and thus we should be wearing them in order to be fashionable.

Ridiculous.

[She'd spit if she was alone. The idea of it all.]

Clothes do not make women. Women make women. Is nothing wrong with your legs out of 'high heels'.

[The disdain in her voice on the word 'high heels' is palpable.]

henchgal: (gentle)

[personal profile] henchgal 2020-11-13 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, there's plenty that's wrong with my legs, but it doesn't relate to how they look.

As long as legs move you is right enough.

[She's trying to be nice, but it might come across as derisive. Sorry Meredith.]
