unpopular opinions

Do you think people are too sensitive? Or that Superman isn't so super? Think cats aren't cute? The Beatles are overrated? Love pineapple on pizza? Maybe you just don't like chips rly. Even the best of us have some controversial opinions. Let people know what a monster you are.

top level

with your characters’ unpopular and/or controversial opinion. Or share few of them at once. In person or via text. Prepare for disagreement.

to tell them why they're wrong, validate a kindred spirit, or just troll them for caring about such a silly-ass thing in the first place.

1. Tarot decks that draw from the symbolism of the Rider-Waite deck aren't inherently better. Nor are decks that intentionally deviate from it.

1a. It's kinda awful that the Rider-Waite deck is named after the man who commissioned the artwork and the company who published the deck, and not the talented artist, Pamela Colman Smith.

2. Undiagnosed diabetics or those who don't treat it properly have the most delicious blood.

3. There are several really interesting stories hiding in the bland prose of the Twilight Saga.

Sugar content? Interesting. Does adding sugar achieve a similar effect or does it need to be filtered through a creature's digestive system into the bloodstream?

The latter. If it's not taken in with the blood, my body doesn't acknowledge it as food and reacts...violently. Which sucks, no pun intended, because I used to enjoy eating.

Interesting. Admittedly, I don't have much to do with many hematophages in the galaxy, but I suppose it does make sense. Most bodies break down sugar into easier to use bits before it's absorbed into the bloodstream.

Hemato-wha?

[Phaedra's never heard her kind referred to so dryly before.]

One of various species that live partially or completely on the blood of other creatures. I've encountered a few, they just usually don't end up on my bounty list.

Ah. We tend to just call ourselves vampires. Kindred, if you're being polite and euphemistic.

It's a large galaxy. Yours isn't the only species that feeds on blood. I'll make a note, though.

[Is it possible to look more pale when you're the very picture of lifeless alabaster? Apparently Evangeline is going to manage it.]

I'd never considered that before. About hypoglycemic blood, I mean. It makes sense medically, I suppose.

I mean, when you consider that tasting the piss was how diabetes was first diagnosed, it really oughta make sense.

[Phaedra shows no shame in her dining habits here. She is what she is.]

[Eva winces] True. In the case of the urine even a human sense of smell can detect signs of the illness. [She looks conflicted about her next question] Do you...can you smell the sweetness in a human's blood just in proximity? I--ah--I don't feed from live humans, and so have never permitted myself to consider a...variety.

What, you make withdrawals from a blood bank?

I usually don't know until I've got my teeth in someone, though if they're in a really bad state, you can almost a smell on their breath that's sort of like...fruity nail polish remover? If they're that bad, I tell them to go to the doctor, after I'm done feeding.

[That's ketoacidosis, though she doesn't have the word for it.]

Sort of. I have a...contact who arranges for medical blood to he delivered to me as infrequently as I can safely allow for.

It is kind of you, to let them go and to tell them something might be amiss. I wonder if there's anything else that would cause such clear symptoms we could know from the taste alone. [Curiosity is almost enough to override her horror of living blood in her mouth.]

I always let them go. I never kill while feeding; it means feeding more often, but that's a trade-off I accept for myself.

And iron deficiency. You can taste that, from experience. The rest...I don't think I've had the right stuff to test to be sure, yet.
