Hmm. The "law" is relative. Most societies are made up of those with power, wealth, and privilege standing above the rest making rules that everyone else has to follow. The corruption of those who enforce the laws is only a symptom of the corruption at the core.

You're not wrong. The privileged enforcers can't break the rules without those who aid and abet them, can they? Guess it isn't too pessimistic to say our democracy is a sham.

It doesn't take much for a society such as that to fall to complete autocracy. I've seen it happen before.

Yeah? Can't say I'm surprised there. I've seen those who've ditched any semblance of morals just to chase glory.

Most just want money and power. "Glory" is an invention they use to control the weak. Tell soldiers they fight for glory and honor and the soldier will fight and die for nothing.

There's always an eccentric one... But their greed is the same.
