Some people are genuinely too stupid to live.

On that, we can entirely agree. One has to wonder how they survived infancy, let alone gotten to adulthood.

I can answer that one for you: dumb luck, helpful friends, or both.

I suppose there is some truth in the saying that God watches over idiots and little children.

It is a problem with humans.

Okay yeah, but that could mean a million things in a place like this. Straight up robots, cyborgs, elementals, aliens, ghosts, gods-- you get the idea.

The words humans use are useless. Most of them are a matter of perspective. Not human is not something that is based on my perspective or yours.

And contrary to general opinion, age does not necessarily make people any wiser.

No. I have a good magical education, but most of the stuff I've heard of or come into contact with is all from Earth. [While normally arrogant, Leo doesn't mind admitting gaps in his education or awareness when there's a fruitful learning opportunity in front of him. You can never learn what you aren't willing to admit you know nothing about. If he weren't as invested in robotics and technopagan styles of magic casting as he is, he would have given more time to the study of magical non-human beings.]

What's a 'Lord of the Crystal'?

It's a matter of palace politics. The skeksis appointed ourselves guardians of Thra's Crystal of Truth. Not that much of anyone takes that seriously anymore.

Now, consider for a moment the tremendous overlap with those, who for better or for worse, are genuinely too stupid to die.

Although Darwin himself would be loathe to apply survival of the fittest to any sort of cultural or social context, it does often feel like natural selection no longer applies to our species. Even on a very basic level.

And yet, they persist in doing so.

Yeah, hence my annoyance. I spend way more time managing other people's stupid than I should be.
