Are you from a patriarchal culture? (I'm inclined to agree with you. An awful lot of human men think all the women of my species are incredibly domineering and selfish.)

That shit makes no sense to me.

Nobody ever has to wonder who the mother of a litter of kits is, so why in the world would anyone ever use fatherhood as a basis for inheritance? And frankly a lot of males can't handle a woman in season all by themselves.
