My lord, there are many who are incapable of comprehending the fact that necessity is sometimes an unspeakably ugly thing. Their judgment is not worth consideration.

Occasionally it is. Especially when the people in question are one's children or grandchildren.

[His heart goes out to Vader there. He's been out of contact with his own daughter for more than a decade, and he's still not sure which would be more crushing: if she couldn't forgive him for leaving when he did, or if she could.]
