unpopular opinions

unpopular opinions

Do you think people are too sensitive? Or that Superman isn't so super? Think cats aren't cute? The Beatles are overrated? Love pineapple on pizza? Maybe you just don't like chips rly. Even the best of us have some controversial opinions. Let people know what a monster you are.

top level

with your characters’ unpopular and/or controversial opinion. Or share few of them at once. In person or via text. Prepare for disagreement.

to tell them why they're wrong, validate a kindred spirit, or just troll them for caring about such a silly-ass thing in the first place.

We Should Stop Assuming All Murders Are Committed By Cryptids

You know, just maybe.

...this is an assumption in your world?!

Not so much my world, I think. I just wish people would stop whispering about how murders were really committed by Latherface or the Sasquonk so there's no need to investigate anything. It would be nice if my own department would stop that too.

...if these murders are happening they need to be investigated, especially if unidentified monsters are doing it?! Are you working with the laziest people ever?

And I am coming from a place where 'the gods dropped a bridge on them' is a legitimate cause of death! We still try to make sure that's how it happened!

They're very dedicated officers. They just get...really into urban legends. Which don't exist.

[Weakest defense ever.]

Oh?

[Three quarters 'oh no, not another one.' One quarter genuine interest. Though all of that might not be apparent.]

Well, good. We have to make sure, no matter what.

It's still important. If they enjoy those legends so much, all the more reason to look into it. Yes! They might be disappointed to find out that people are just as wicked if not more so than some kind of supernatural element.

[This is a dark elf you are talking to lady. Just suspend a little bit of that disbelief.]

You jump out from underneath a bridge to attack holy people, the bridge is going to fall...

I work with cryptids in a job with a ridiculously high fatality rate and I still see more people die because of regular old humans.

Humans do things to other humans, sometimes. It's always awful.

[She wants to stick with the part she can both believe and say out loud, but she has to ask.]

"Cryptids?"

The technical term in my line of work is 'Abnormalities', but monsters with unusual powers. Some of them are harmless, but a lot of them will kill you without even meaning to. Which is more than can be said for humans, usually they do it on purpose.

[Humans kind of suck, actually.]

Hm. I see. You work, where again?

[Force of habit: She can't allow herself to admit out loud monsters actually exist, but she definitely believes they do. Along with terrible humans, of course.]

Do people die often? Of these supposed "Abnormalities" I mean? No snails with human faces, are there?

[She tries to sound lighthearted about the last part.]

Lobotomy Corporation. Just as much fun as it sounds.

[She realizes it had to be an L name but still, who came up with that.]

Oh, yeah, employees die all the time. -I don't think we have any snails right now, but I wouldn't be surprised if we got one in.

Haven't heard of that one. It's not part of Massachusetts is it?

[Please don't let it be in Massachusetts. Not that she doesn't care, but everything can't be her problem. As usual she assumes there's a 50/50 chance this person is telling the truth or making up wild tales. Because that's how things usually turn out.]

You're sure your co-workers are nonhuman?

Nope. Pretty far away.

[The City is really isolated from anything that's not The City.]

Oh, no, my coworkers are human. We have Abnormalities in containment that we work with, those are where the employee deaths come from.
