unpopular opinions

Do you think people are too sensitive? Or that Superman isn't so super? Think cats aren't cute? The Beatles are overrated? Love pineapple on pizza? Maybe you just don't like chips rly. Even the best of us have some controversial opinions. Let people know what a monster you are.

top level

with your characters’ unpopular and/or controversial opinion. Or share few of them at once. In person or via text. Prepare for disagreement.

comment

to tell them why they're wrong, validate a kindred spirit, or just troll them for caring about such a silly-ass thing in the first place.

A lot of the material choices in aviation are made because of their capacity for diminishing radiation exposure. And I don't do a lot of shopping.

Yes?

Do you find radiation exposure a daily concern?

Define "hustler."

[personal profile] horticulturalist 2020-10-04 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
More than most people, yes.

Considering you threatened me for calling you that I feel like I should let you define it.

[personal profile] wwrench 2020-10-04 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Different line of work might clear that up. Give you an excuse for a new jacket, too.

Wise man. No, I wouldn't say I'm a hustler.
horticulturalist: (cautious)

[personal profile] horticulturalist 2020-10-04 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
It really wouldn't.

It's how I made it to ninety-five with all my teeth.
So you'd say you're more of aaaaaa...
wwrench: <lj user=wwrench> (pic#13592047)

[personal profile] wwrench 2020-10-04 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
I guess I'll have to take your word on it. That you're ninety-five, and that you've got any teeth.

Me? Oh, I'm retired.

Go head— Ask me who won the world series any time since 1930.

Retired from... hustling?

[personal profile] wwrench 2020-10-04 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
That question assumes I'd know the answer and be able to fact check you. All that radiation keeping you well preserved?

House painting, actually.

[personal profile] horticulturalist 2020-10-04 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
You've got the internet on that thing haven't you?

As a matter of fact, yes it has.

Is that a euphemism I'm not familiar with?

wwrench: <lj user=proverbially> (pic#13703933)

[personal profile] wwrench 2020-10-04 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
I've seen Rain Man. It wouldn't necessarily mean you're old.

You know I've heard of a lot of tricks to keep up the youthful appearance, but radiation poisoning's got to be the most extreme.

What do you mean? I'm just really tall. Helps to reach the ceilings, you know.

[personal profile] horticulturalist 2020-10-04 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Big Hoffman fan, huh? Welp. Let me know if you can think of something else that might convince you.

It certainly never caught on.

So when you asked me to define hustler, you were thinking I might say roller jockey?
wwrench: <lj user=proverbially> (pic#13651261)

[personal profile] wwrench 2020-10-04 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Kind of defeats the point, doesn't it? The bandages. Would you say it was worth it?

What's a roller jockey?
horticulturalist: (Default)

[personal profile] horticulturalist 2020-10-04 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
No, I don't think I could give that kind of testimonial honestly. There's a reason it never caught on.

A guy who knows his way around a paint roller?

[personal profile] wwrench 2020-10-04 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
So what is it that's got you now? Just living for spite?

I'm going to assume your slang is straight from the 1930s as well?
horticulturalist: (tea)

[personal profile] horticulturalist 2020-10-04 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
Are you asking why I'm still alive and oh so spry for a nonagenarian? [Dramatic sigh.] It's not going to be a very satisfying answer but. One part irradiation, one part interdimensional-switcheroo, I guess.

Some of it. Probably. That bit I just made up.

You're a time traveler? Or a mutant?

Glad to know it. You're testing the outer limits of the already-tenuous grasp I've got on the English language.
[Or -- judging by the number of words he's used to say that -- does he?]
horticulturalist: (sheepish)

[personal profile] horticulturalist 2020-10-04 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
N—no... I guess, mutant might be— no, not in the hereditary sense. Just another military accident or something.

Sorry? I don't talk to a lot of strangers.

[personal profile] wwrench 2020-10-04 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
You mean they experimented on you? Trying to crack the code of immortality?

Mostly keep the company of normals?
[Wrench looks him up and down pointedly, but there's the faintest hint of a smile etched into one corner of his lips. He's definitely trying to incite.]
horticulturalist: (tea)

[personal profile] horticulturalist 2020-10-04 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
Got it in one. Or was that two? Three? Whatever.

Normal is relative.

[personal profile] wwrench 2020-10-04 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Did it work? And don't say, "Well I haven't died yet."

Sure. Let's go with your vantage point, then. Am I more or less like the company that you usually keep?
horticulturalist: (tea)

[personal profile] horticulturalist 2020-10-04 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
Uhmm OK. How about... I'm still alive, aren't I?

Let's see— are you cyberneticly enhanced in anyway? Capable of pyrokinesis, teleportation or mind control? An amorphous blob in human form? If no, then probably less.

Sorry about all the million dollar words.
wwrench: <lj user=manual> (pic#13696576)

[personal profile] wwrench 2020-10-04 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Sure, but that's not exactly a tell. Life expectancy's a lot longer these days than when you were a spring chicken. I'm more interested in whether you've lived through things that ought to kill you, rather than how long you've gone on.

I'm just a human.
horticulturalist: (sheepish)

[personal profile] horticulturalist 2020-10-04 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I see. Well. That's kind of a grey area. I've walked away from a pretty messy plane crash and survived ingestion by a particularly voracious donkey, but I'm not sure the same couldn't necessarily be said for anyone. Long story short— I'm pretty sure I can die. Someone just won't let me.

Definitely less common in my life than they used to be.

[personal profile] wwrench 2020-10-04 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
So the bandages aren't another bad fashion statement? You're not trying for irony as some kind of mummified ancient fighter pilot?

Well, maybe I'm more interesting by virtue of being less common.
horticulturalist: (proper)

[personal profile] horticulturalist 2020-10-04 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
Like I said radiation dampening. That and. A guy could develop a complex going through life with a face that makes people lose their lunch.

That's always the hope, right?
