unpopular opinions

Do you think people are too sensitive? Or that Superman isn't so super? Think cats aren't cute? The Beatles are overrated? Love pineapple on pizza? Maybe you just don't like chips rly. Even the best of us have some controversial opinions. Let people know what a monster you are.

with your characters’ unpopular and/or controversial opinion. Or share few of them at once. In person or via text. Prepare for disagreement.

to tell them why they're wrong, validate a kindred spirit, or just troll them for caring about such a silly-ass thing in the first place.

An interesting analogy, but those "good old days" end when a new era begins. When something terrible happens, you learn to appreciate those old days, despite how imperfect they were.

Then they're ending over and over again every second. So quickly and so constantly with every terrible thing that happens to someone somewhere that it's ridiculous to think they ever started.

There's not enough good things behind us worth idealizing any of it.

You're a regular miserable nutcase, aren't you? I was speaking of an event that is so terrible that it alters your entire life. Most terrible things that happen don't do that.

It sounds to me like you're looking for a perfect life rather than a good one. So your statement should have been, "There are no perfect days," which I can agree with. However, life does not need to be perfect to be good.

Well. Yeah, probably.
But! Most actually terrible things do do that. Everything else is just a minor inconvenience. Terrible life altering stuff is happening to people every minute of every day. Just like it always has.

That's smaller than what I meant. To the point of insignificance. I stand by what I said. There's never been an era in history worth calling the good old days, and if you think there is, like I said, your frame is probably too narrow.

Given I prefer focusing on the happiness and welfare of my clan, if that's what you consider a "narrow frame," then I suppose I can't argue that. How kind of you to care for the entire world like that.

See. Point in case. Your good old days were probably someone elses' living nightmare.

I don't care. I'm just tired of hearing people romanticize a time that was as awful as things are now.

"Just as awful?" You're wrong there. The problems of the past pale in comparison to the ones we have now. The problems we have now will pale in comparison to the ones we'll face in the future. That is why the past is referred to as the good old days. Again, the old days didn't need to be perfect to be good.

Maybe on planet dragon clan, or whatever. Around here, yesterday sucked, today sucks and tomorrow will go on sucking for the vast majority of people.

I can only imagine that it would when you're too busy living in everyone else's nightmares to live your own life.

Hey, who says I don't have my own perfectly miserable nightmare to contend with?

And you think his point of view is depressing? At least he and I think that the amount of suckage in the world is fairly constant, although greater technology and access to information lowers this amount incrementally over time, because fewer people die of disease and injuries and better access to power and energy makes slave labour an inefficient way of doing things.

You think things were great long before you were sparked and will just get worse and worse over time. That's what I'd call a nightmare reality.

Why don't you try telling me what you think is so great about the "good old days"?

If you want to convince either of us of anything, you're going to need to come up with some specifics, not romanticism.

Otherwise I'm going to continue to think that you are being deceived, and wonder whether you're deceiving yourself or swallowing someone else's line of scrapwaste.
