aita?

am i the asshole?
Life isn’t always black and white. Sometimes it’s hard to tell who’s really at fault, and no one wants to believe they’re the bad guy. Sometimes you need an outside opinion. Or several.
Tell your side of the story and crowdsource an honest answer to the age old question; Am I The Asshole?

[Of course, now he has to show off, too, so there's a flicker of greenish-gold light that slides over his form, and then there's two of him, as well. Both bow gallantly, though only one speaks.] Well met to you both.
So what exactly did you do to entrap your parents, if not switch places with a twin? [Don't even ask how he's aware of this bit of pop culture in the first place. It's better not to know, with him.]

It's, um, it's kind of a long story? But it basically comes down to, we needed someplace safe for her to hide from bad guys, and my dad's place is really secure, so I asked him to let her stay there, and he said yes. And I've - I've never actually seen him leave the bar? And Mama doesn't like to go outside, either, so - they're spending a lot of time with each other.

Well, that sounds like a perfectly practical decision when it comes right down to it, so if you were attempting to entrap them, you've got plausible deniability. So, I would say Not-the-Asshole, or at least No-One-Can-Prove-You're-the-Asshole!

That's true, that's very very true, the proving thing. That's important. I do have some pretty good plausible deniability, because we really are trying to hide from evil wizards who do horrible things to people, that part is totally true.
