AITA for ignoring a villain’s gimmick? I’m a superhero and a villain caught me in a cage and said he’d release me if I could answer several riddles. I hate riddles, I’m not good at them, so I kicked the bard of the cage so hard they broke and then beat him up. The whole way to jail he was whining that I wasn’t playing fair. I say I’m not obligated to do homework to stop crime. So AITA?

Personally I'd find beating his riddles and then rubbing his face in how easy they were more satisfying, but that's just my own tastes.

So, I met this guy. My life was in kind of a rut, but this guy came along like a breath of fresh air, and we clicked instantly. Most people might think we were fuckin' insane, but it didn't matter because we were having a hell of a good time - most fun I've had in probably my whole life. I shared things with him I'd never shared with anyone else, and he seemed to respect and accept me, even the nastier parts of me. I gave up everything to save his life, and we even kissed! It was great!

I concocted a plan for us to run away together to China and he seemed on board with it, but then he stood me up. Left me hanging. Broke my fuckin' heart.

So I stole his ship, dumped all his fancy books and shit into the ocean, marooned his crew and I'm going on a pillaging spree. AITA?

Difficult to say. I've been on both sides of this equation - in my line of work, it's dangerous to get attached. Not only because there is the possibility of my relationships to be used against both myself and my crew, but because my people are long-lived by nature and I am going to outlive any lovers I have.

I...have a rather short temper, and if I was dumped I can easily see myself going on what you described, especially if the circumstances were dangerous. I have powerful - well, I wouldn't say enemies, but they're certainly not friends. Rivals, I suppose you could call them. Members of my own species who would pounce if I was in rough waters. We're an unscrupulous lot but I try to have some measure of standards.

To decide which of you is in the wrong, I'll need more information. Did this gentleman give you any indication of why he hung you out to dry?

As someone who has had bad and very dramatic break ups before: yta, but only because you marooned his crew. Letting them simply go in a neutral port once you took over the ship would have been more advisable. In the worst possible scenario, should they survive, you've made more enemies.

There's only one guy who's ever going to be capable of loving and accepting you the way you deserve to be loved and accepted, always having your back, and really making you happy, and he's the one you see every time you look in the mirror. If you do right by that guy, take care of him, be the kind of person he wants you to be, then nothing can touch you. You'll be indestructible, and you'll never have to ask dumbass questions like this because of dumb assholes like your ex again.

Alright let me start this off by saying: Yes, I was trying to kill this person but...I have reasons. Those reasons being something most people wouldn't believe.

That being said, this guy ran me around so much, dodged every knife I could throw, blinded me with a flashlight AND slammed literal pallets in my face. I probably should have just left him alone to find one of his friends but he kept showing up and flashing that stupid light at me. One time he slammed a pallet down on my head and as I was recovering he shined that stupid light in my eyes and then just crouched on the other side of the pallet. IT WAS SO RUDE!!

He got far enough away at one point and I lost him, when I found him again he just sat there pointing at me and crouching. Who does that!? So I hit him with my bat...and threw some knives into his back as he ran away.

So when I finally caught him and hung him up his friends had repaired all of the generators that power their escape route so...I stayed there and didn't let any of his friends save him. Eventually they gave up and left without him.

I didn't even get any good screams for my music.

So tl;dr I sat there and watched someone die and didn't let his friends save him...AITA?

My brothers (M42, M44) and I (M32) all run a church together. I was recently put in charge of the treasury. Since then, I've been working to cut excess spending, mostly by reorganizing finances to speed up stalled projects.

For example, we recently purchased an old lodge (complete with private airstrip) and I've been working to speed up repairs. The house itself is going to have space for members to live in, and I want to get it ready as fast as possible. We've had people begging for somewhere to stay for weeks now, and we've got the space, so what's the problem?

Well, the problem is that I decided to take some of my money from the choir, which is my oldest brother's pet project. Now he's going on a rampage about it, telling our other brother that I'm irresponsible and that it was a mistake to give me this responsibility. It's important to note that I've also taken funds from my own side projects! He's hardly the only person sacrificing for the repair efforts.

Because of my dedication, and because I've set aside one of the many rooms for myself, he's convinced that this is a petty vanity project. Obviously, I think he's full of shit and should shut the fuck up about it, but I'm not going to say that to his face. Anyway, AITA?

I (40s?M?) spent a good deal of time on a scientific presentation, including a handful of glimpses into 4th dimensional theory, and invited people to attend, for free. My reputation precedes me almost all the time, as I use the same alias and do much the same thing generally from city to city. I assume everyone coming is interested in seeing unusual physics demonstrations and the aforementioned exclusive horrors. One particular audience member accused me of being a charlatan? Very loudly and rudely. As no one quashed him, I threw them all out into the husk of the city they might have avoided by listening to the presentation properly.

AITA? "Everyone Sucks"? I ask because I did lose my temper.
